Who We Are

Seed of Change Organization (SOCO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that was established in 2016. SOCO was registered as an NGO with the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on 24/08/2016 under registration number 3962. The organization was founded by a group of social workers in Badakhshan and Herat provinces to support needy and deprived Afghan people in gaining access to sustainable livelihoods and income-generating opportunities, enabling them to meet their family needs, particularly ensuring children’s access to education. In addition, SOCO aims to support children, women, and adults who lack access to essential services such as health, education, and relief assistance in the target provinces. The organization works to address gender-based violence and discrimination, child marriage, child labor, and deprivation from basic services.

To empower women and men, SOCO provides livelihood and protection services to ensure that the rights of all target beneficiaries are safeguarded. To achieve this goal, SOCO implements a multi-faceted livelihood approach, including the establishment of self-help groups, small and medium-sized enterprises, entrepreneurship initiatives, micro-business support for individuals with marketable skills, and vocational training for those without marketable skills through SOCO’s vocational training centers.
